University of Illinois President Joe White visited the Biophotonics Imaging Lab on April 11th, 2005 as part of a tour of campus research. President White spoke of the need for more 'translational research,' which would take innovations from the lab bench to the bedside.
Tyler Ralston and Adam Zysk Awarded Beckman Fellowships

Tyler Ralston and Adam Zysk have been awarded Beckman Graduate Fellowships for the
2003-2004 and 2004-2005 academic years, respectively. Tyler received funding for his project, entitled "Mapping Neural Activity Through Optical Scattering Changes Using Real-time
Spectra-domain Optical Coherence Tomography". Adam's project is entitled "Optical Image Enhancement for the Diagnosis of Breast Cancer". The Beckman Graduate Fellowship provides
an 11 month stipend plus funds to attend one national meeting. Congratulations, Adam and Tyler!
